- Edwin Ho finishes 16th at the NASA National Championships
Many of the country's top race car
drivers gathered at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in hopes of being
crowned a National Champion. A total of 52 drivers competed in the Spec
Miata class. Edwin struggled with the chaotic starts in the Friday and
Saturday Qualifying Races, finishing 20th and 21st
respectively. This earned him a 10th row starting position in the
Championship Race. During the race start, an incident resulted in three
cars crashing out of the race before the first corner. This brought out a
full-course caution and eventually a red flag, stopping the race in order
to clear the disabled cars. After the re-start, Edwin worked his way up
from his 19th place starting position to 14th. In
the end, he brought the car home in 16th place. Todd Lamb
(Covington, GA) finished in the top spot, becoming the 2007 NASA Spec Miata
National Champion, while
Mark Bennett (Lagrange, OH) and Brian Domont (Bourbonnais, IL) rounded out
the Top Three.

The SCCA Cincinnati Region's IT SPEC*tacular
drew 39 Spec Miata drivers from all over the country to the Mid-Ohio

Edwin qualified third for the first race. While running third, contact
resulted in Edwin spinning off the track and into a gravel trap, ending
his race with only five laps to go. For the second race, Edwin won the
pole position beating out 2006 CenDiv Spec Miata National Champion and
current championship leader, Mark Bennett, by 0.016 seconds!
Unfortunately, due to tire and brake issues, Edwin fell back to finish
ninth. In the final race, Edwin finished sixth after starting ninth. With
three race wins, Mark Bennett won the overall, with Edwin finishing
eighth.

EH Motorsports returned to the
historic Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Edwin struggled with the morning
session, qualifying 20th in the 27 car Spec Miata field. Even
though he managed to improve his time by 7/10ths of a second,
everyone's faster times from the early session would mean that he would
start 16th. After falling back due to a missed shift on the
start, Edwin battled his way up to finish 10th.
